Barb wants to especially thank all the adopters who made December a record month: 22 cats and kittens in new homes! Now who will come forth in this fresh New Year to help us break up the (Ba-aa-ad) Boys' Club? All born between June 15 and June 22 last year, these youngsters have been with us too long. Each deserves and yearns for a new home and someone special to love. We have Rufus (red medium hair), Remington (sleek black short hair), Waldo (black part Siamese medium hair) and Zachary (Mr. Personality black short hair). All are neutered, healthy people-cats. Can you be part of disbanding this "Gang of Four" before their understudies (5 month-old Scotty and 4 ½ month-old Callahan) join their club?
Both Rufus and King, over at our Dog Center , have the potential to brighten your home and your life instantly. Each is handsome. Rufus is a golden lab mix, calm, quiet and very loving toward people and other dogs. Unfortunately he's showing signs now of depression from being in a pen so long instead of a home of his own. King is a rottweiler mix who came to us starving and frightened. He's so much better now, but still fearful and a bit unsure. Nevertheless, he's sweet and responds to gentle attention. Both Rufus and King thrive on company. They like to put their heads in your lap, lie by your feet or go for walks. Come in and meet them and look around while you're visiting and say hello to all our dogs in residence. Ask to see Jorge. He's strictly a little street dog, not even close to a recognizable breed, but so adorable in a cute/homely way. He's got wiry black hair with a mix of white on his chest and front paws. He waits to be noticed then comes quickly to respond to your greeting. He's also very sweet to other dogs and he's able to cheer up his pen mates. There's something about him that's quietly wonderful.
A little girl came in to see us recently to give us a small donation. She'd asked her friends who were coming to her birthday party not to bring presents, but to donate a few pesos instead to the Animal Shelter. We thanked her for her kindness. Clearly she's been taught to love animals and they'll always be a part of life.
Good news: Chuy, the very abused-but-recovering Neopolitan mastiff has found a good home. The adopter took one look, smiled, scooped Chuy up in his arms (he was a big guy himself) and off they went in his car.
