Gerry Green and His Neat Little Hiking Book

E-mail Print PDF

I recently had the pleasure of talking to Gerry Green, author of ***.  He is a Canadian, from Ottawa, who visited lakeside repeatedly and then in 1998, with his wife, made it his home.  His passion is hiking mountain trails, and he is a careful documenter.  As he walked our mountains he took notes so that he could get back home.  Over time they accumulated and were improved upon by GPS data.  *** was originally published as a public service, his friends having said he ought to do it; Gerry just hoped that he could get his money out.  The original 400 copies sold out so quickly, he had a second edition printed.  They are selling even faster.  It is satisfying to see good deeds by good people rewarded.

We have Rufus (red medium hair), Remington (sleek black short hair), Waldo (black part Siamese medium hair) and Zachary (Mr. Personality black short hair). All are neutered, healthy people-cats. Can you be part of disbanding this "Gang of Four" before their understudies (5 month-old Scotty and 4 ½ month-old Callahan) join their club?

Scrabbling About Oct06

E-mail Print PDF

Almost everyone has learned to play the Scrabble word game at some time during childhood. And quite a few people have continued their interest in competitive word play into adulthood. Many Lakesiders have friendly Scrabble games in their homes as a way to keep the gray cells active. In Ajijic there are two informal groups that meet to play Scrabble on a regular basis. Irene's group meets on Mondays and Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. at Angel's Restaurant on the waterfront near Old Posada, around the corner from the Lake Chapala Society. Ron and Dan's group meets at Angel's Restaurant on Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m. Neither group charges for playing.
