Westside Ambulance 30 day Report

E-mail Print PDF

If there was ever a doubt about the need for the ambulance substation (in west Ajijic), it should be clear from the attached call report that the right move was made. We need to continue to support this location and Cruz Roja Delegation Lago de Chapala thru continued donations and fundraising activities. The call report for the last month is impressive and shows the diverse locations we have been able to respond to: Jocotepec 1, Chula Vista 3, El Chante 1, Liberamento 3, La Canacinta 2, Riberas 2, Ajijic 27, Villa Nova 1, La Floresta 2, San Antonio 6 and Birds of Paradise 1. This gives a total of 55 responses from the Lakeside Mall substation in 30 days. We knew that the need was great but didn't really understand the difference it would make. The response time is in the neighborhood of 5 minutes or less.

With the growing help of, you, our community we are growing in strength and our financial base is becoming more stable. We do need your continued support as we have a long way to go. This success story is entirely your doing. Thanks to those who have stepped forward as appreciative citizens to help in the support effort. The people that worked tirelessly in the local neighborhoods gathering support both emotionally and financially have been a special blessing in putting a base under the substation.

The board of directors of Riviera Alta homeowner association has donated $25,000 pesos to support one month's operation of the Westside Mall substation. They are hoping that this might influence other homeowner associations to make a similar contribution on behalf of their residents. Now, I'm a wide eyed optimist most of the time but this community spirit is beyond any of my expectations. I will be surprised if many of the other homeowner associations don't pick up the challenge and come to our support. We are now confident that with your continued commitment to having great local emergency service at the Westside Mall substation that we can keep it there ongoing. It's as true today as the first time I said it "Remember the life you save maybe your own".

The Cruz Roja Eight annual fashion show is rushing towards us. It will be on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Hotel Real de Chapala. This year's theme will be, "Passion for Fashion". Last year the show sold out due to overwhelming demand and many people who wanted to attend the event simply could not. So, this year there will be two shows.  The afternoon show will be 11:30-3:30pm and will include lunch and live entertainment. The admission fee is $300 pesos. The second show of the day will start at 6:00pm-until. There will be dinner and dancing as well as the show.  The admission fee for the dinner show is $500 peso.  There will be a 50/50 drawing at both events. The evening show only, will have a silent auction, the items for which include a week at the ocean, complete pool table, art, and more. All items are high end and limited to a total of ten.
