If there was ever a doubt about the need for the ambulance substation (in west Ajijic), it should be clear from the attached call report that the right move was made. We need to continue to support this location and Cruz Roja Delegation Lago de Chapala thru continued donations and fundraising activities. The call report for the last month is impressive and shows the diverse locations we have been able to respond to: Jocotepec 1, Chula Vista 3, El Chante 1, Liberamento 3, La Canacinta 2, Riberas 2, Ajijic 27, Villa Nova 1, La Floresta 2, San Antonio 6 and Birds of Paradise 1. This gives a total of 55 responses from the Lakeside Mall substation in 30 days. We knew that the need was great but didn't really understand the difference it would make. The response time is in the neighborhood of 5 minutes or less.

Are antibiotics necessary?

On the shore of the lake in San Juan Cosala is a little B&B/Spa, La Puerta Violeta, which has, along with its lake frontage, a solar panel heated swimming pool large enough for exercise, as well as a Jacuzzi and steam room, fed by the same thermal spring that supplies hot water to the nearby Balneario.   The bedrooms are simple, comfortable and attractively furnished; the showers are fed by hot springs water, too.  Two of them have large covered balconies with views of the lake; the others have mountain views.  The oxblood red Chinese-style dining room boasts hand carved Chinese rosewood furniture, a grandfather clock, as well as blue and white glazed porcelain.
