Perched high on the mount, Villas Los Angeles looks out over the world from wide verandas and heavenly shaded terraces. The white face of the Villas shimmers in tropical sunlight. Dark blue tiles embrace reflective sapphire waters of the pool. Orange hibiscus blossoms flower alongside curving stairways tiled in hand-decorated Mexican terracotta. Purple bougainvillea, flowering shrubs dressed in yellow, blue and red, tip their bright faces heavenward. White gardenias scent the air. Verdant fronds of tall palm trees sway in the breeze.

You can see forever in a breathtaking 360-degree view. Look to the north where waves wash over large stones at the shoreline, then to white crescent beaches beyond. To the west beyond the bay, the open cobalt blue Pacific Ocean beckons. Just below the Villas to the south is the well-manicured Las Hadas golf course. Further on, gentle waves break on crescent beaches arching toward the city of Manzanillo. To the east, purple mountains cradle the rising sun as it spreads it's golden light over the land.

You can shop for everything you need in the line of groceries. Take-outs are everywhere and many deliver. And, you'll discover that in Manzanillo finding a good restaurant isn't difficult. Juanito's on the Costero going north to the highway is a great place to check out the locals and enjoy a very good meal. La Margarita Beach Club, an open-air restaurant jutting out over the beach, boasts a great view, cool breezes and great food. You wouldn't want to miss the Guadalajara Grill, famous for giving a good time along with an extensive menu of your favorite cuts of beef and fresh seafood.

You can choose to lounge by the sparkling pool or to indulge in several of the numerous activities offered seaside. Sports fishermen come to Manzanillo from all over the world to angle for sailfish and marlin. Sparkling beaches lure water sports enthusiasts who enjoy surfing, water skiing windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving or snorkeling. Nature Lovers are attracted to the numerous lagoons and estuaries that are home to turtles, ducks and alligators. Here birds are everywhere. Sea birds, land birds, nesting birds, feeding birds, long-legged birds, curved billed birds, small yellow-chested birds, all watch you as you watch them.

Or, you may decide to enjoy the quiet life. Stroll Manzanillo's boardwalk with a coconut or shrimp cocktail in hand. Watch commercial ships, private yachts and sailing ships. Listen to Mariachi music as it drifts in the cooling breeze. Lounge on beautiful beaches. Take the sun. Sip your favorite tropical thirst-quencher. Then when the gold, pinks, reds, purples of the glorious sunset slowly fade away, sit by the Villas' pool in the company of other companionable guests.

Nearby Colima, a provincial city filled with interesting historic buildings, distinctive cafés, intriguing museums and flower-filled parks offers a change of pace. Visit Volcan de Colima National Park where lately fiery eruptions light the night sky and the earth trembles under your feet. Take a Sunday afternoon excursion to experience Comala, a small town where townspeople gather at the main square after church for a lengthy meal celebrated with live music.
